Clos la Coutale Cahors Malbec 2023

Cahors, in the South West of France is the ancestral home of Malbec, where in its French form, it is a more savoury, dark skinned & brooding variety that its Argentinian cousin. Perfected over the centuries, Clos la Coutale is a blend of Malbec (85%) and Merlot (15%) with an average yield of 45 hl which allows consistent quality and maturity each year. Matured in barrels and wooden casks for one year to obtain a good balance between tannins and fruit, this is a rustic, medium to full-bodied wine which combines elegance and rusticity in one.

About the Producer

Handed down over 6 generations, the 100 hectares of vines of Clos la Coutale are located in the heart of the meandering River Lot on alluvial soils composed of gravel and clay-limestone silica. Protected from the extreme cold with a southwest exposure, this land is particularly suitable for vine growing.
